The first time I went to Paris was in August of 2001, right before I came back to university for my senior year. It was also the first summer—during college—in which I didn’t go home to Karachi over the break. Instead, at the suggestion of my brother, I wound up interning at Xantrex, a power and energy R&D firm based out of Vancouver, Canada, but with an office in the Pacific Northwest. After spending about eight weeks working at Xantrex, [...]

Forgive the lack of posts. The last few weeks in Karachi have been quite insane, what with car bombs detonating all over the place, my having to re-evaluate several things about my life (yes, it’s that time of the year again), and a new job offer in the works. The car bombs I can do nothing about, the re-evaluation is (as always) a work in progress, and the new job offer is still so much a theoretical possibility that it [...]

I love Apple’s iTunes. Or at least I thought I did, until this afternoon, when I tried to burn myself a new audio CD. It won’t work. Nor will it let any of my other programs work. I can’t fucking burn ANYTHING. I didn’t have this problem until I installed the new iTunes (4.5) for Windows, and now I’m so pissed-off that my kidneys are about to give way. This is BULLSHIT. ARGH. What makes it even worse is that [...]

You know what the best comeback in the world has GOT to be? In the movie “Supergirl”, starring Faye Dunaway (as the baddest evil witch of all time, with scenery-chewing of unimaginable proportions), and Helen “I win the award for monosyllabic autistic alien impersonations!” Slater, there’s an exchange towards the end. See, Supergirl has Overcome Her Fears, and Defeated Her Archenemy’s Dastardly Plot (Almost), and is Confronting The Villain; as she and Selena the witch face off, this exchange takes [...]

I would be terribly grateful if the following individuals would contact me ASAP. 1) Anon. 2) Sohony10012. My lovelies, the first of you indicated some interest in hanging out when s/he came to Karachi for a whole three weeks (according to a comment about a week or so ago). I would be delighted to spend some of that time with you, but I have no way of contacting you or getting in touch with you, so e-mailing me with an [...]

Thinking back upon it, I realised that the signs of incipient homosexuality were upon me from an early age. How early? Pretty far back. Here’s a timeline. 1980: Birth. I was a Caesarean, and a few weeks early. This, I have discovered, may be attributed to the fact that I just wanted to get the hell out of my mother’s stomach before I was entering vaginal regions. I was so committed to being a big homo that I didn’t want [...]

This is completely and utterly retarded. The text of this story comes from The Guardian. And it makes me see red. And this one is even worse. Read these, and keep an eye out for the following phrases: “I love the army. I love that flag. All I wanted to be was a US soldier,” he added, before returning to his seat, sniffing”, and: “Guy Womack, a lawyer for specialist Graner, told ABC News the photo of his client represented [...]

I’ve heard of many phobias, and faked several myself, but this is a joke, right? Right?
